Filth piles in Metro
NZPA-Reuter Paris Tonnes of garbage littered rat-infested Paris subway stations yesterday as a cleaners’ strike neared its third week with no end in sight. The conflict, for better wages and improved conditions, threatened to spread after the two main unions of Metro employees and drivers called on their members to stop work tomorrow and Wednesday in. support of the cleaners. The cleaners went on strike on March 24, in support of various demands ranging from a minimum monthly salary of $644 to the supply of gloves and the right to use other employees’ shower rooms.
