Get out of Zambia, U.N. tells Pretoria

[ The United Nations Security Council, in a unanimous vote, has warned South Africa that if it continues its armed incursions into Zambia the council will consider • punitive measures under the [United Nations Charter, including its sanctions provi•sions.
The Council also strongly condemned South Africa for the continued-intensified and unprovoked acts against Zambia w'hich violated its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Council demanded the withdrawal forthwith of South African troops from Zambian territory and an end to all violations of its airspace.

In opening the debate, Mr Reuben Kamanga, a member of the central committee of Zambia’s ruling party, charged that hundreds of South African troops were still on Zambian soil. -African Foreign Minister I (Mr Roelof "P.K.” Botha) • said guerrillas belonging to [the South West Africa [People’s Organisation carried 'out attacks against Namibia from bases in Angola and Zambia. I South Africa’s actions [were “in direct response to • the threat posed by these ■terrorist activities,” he said. The United States, Britain, and France, which are still engaged in protracted negotiations with South Africa over . independence for Namibia, joined the other 12 members' of the Council in supporting the resolution. They abstained in March and November, last year, when the Council adopted resolutions condemning South Africa for attacks against Angola.
