Drilling gear for West Coast
PA New Plymouth An Auckland-based barge is expected to arrive at Port Taranaki within a fortnight to transport Petrocorp (Exploration) Ltd’s drilling equipment to the South IsInd.
A company spokesman said-dismantling of the drilling rig and equipment at the McKee No. 1 well site at Tikorangi was completed and transporting the components to Port Taranaki had begun .yesterday. ’ The barge would take
most of the equipment' by sea direct to the West Coast but about 10 trucks might be needed to transport unusually sized or more fragile equipment by road and Cook Strait ferry to the company’s new Kokiri site, 15km east of Greymouth. Petrocorp plans to drill two wells on the Kokiri structure, both to a depth of 2600 m. ■ <■ -
While this drilling is carried out, the McKee well will undergo further production testing.
