No plant decision

PA Wellington The Cabinet economic committee has put off a decision as to who will build a methanol plant at New Plymouth. The methanol is to be based on Maui gas. The committee yesterday discussed proposals by Petrocorp in association with Alberta Gas of Canada, and a British Petroleum consortium.

But later the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) said it had been a “no decision bout.” “We are not agreed on who should build it,” he said.

Mr Muldoon said it looked as though the decision would have to be made next week in the Cabinet.
