Shane Gibbons shifts
Shane Gibbons, the Canterbury and New Zealand Maoris rugby three-quarter, will be playing his football in Otago this year. He has joined the Dunedin club. A desire to establish himself as a second five-eighths is one of the reasons behind the shift. His chances of
- achieving this in Canterbury 1 were slim. , Gibbons, who is 24. came I into the Canterbury team in ; 1978, having six games at centre and two as a wing. ’ Last winter he made 12 j appearances, eight at centre f and four on the right wing.
