M.P.s to visit Chch prisons

Parliamentary reporter

A group of Government members of Parliament will be in Christchurch today to visit four penal institutions. Christchurch has been chosen because of the variety of institutions — from a short remand centre to the only women’s prison in New Zealand. The members are Messrs G. W. F. Thompson (Horowhenua), ■ D. C. McKinnon (Albany), D. L. Kidd (Marlborough), W. R. Peters (Hunua,) and P. C. East (Rotorua). They will visit the Addington remand prison, Paparua Prison, the Rolleston detention centre, and the women’s prison.
