‘Samsons’ take safe
The removal of an oldfashioned metal safe weighing in excess of 300 kg from the Christchurch Richmond ■ M.S.A. Bowling Club in Petne Street, on Sunday night is a mystery. The absence of the safe was discovered yesterday morning. Club officials have been left puzzled as to how it was taken out of the building. The police said that the safe was an older type with brass plates and brass handles, measuring 75cm by 91cm by 75cm. The safe held a little under $2OO. Four bottles of liquor were also removed. Entrance may have been gained by a key. A spokesman for the club said the workmen who had first put in the safe had experienced great difficulty. “How these people got it out beats me,” he said. “They must have been Samsons.”
