Chinese leader to visit Parliamentary reporter

One of China’s highestranking leaders, Vice-Pre-mier Li Xiannian, will visit New Zealand in May. Mr Li, aged 75, is ranked third in the Chinese' Government and has held a variety of military and political appointments. He has been vicc-premier since 1954 and has specialised in financial and economic affairs. Announcing the visit, the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon said that Mr Li was involved closely with China’s drive towards modernisation. The New .Zealand Government looked forward to learning his views on economic co-operation between their two countries.
