Fancied runners for Piggott
PA Auckland The English jockey, Lester Piggott, could overshadow New Zealand’s leading riders at the, Auckland Racing Club’s Air New Zealand race meeting at Ellerslie on Saturday. The Auckland riding master, Mr Norm Holland, so far’has accepted six. mounts on Piggott’s behalf — four of them well-fancied runners. . . They are Arbre Chene, Snowlake, Yir Tiz, London Pride, Our Saint and Dream Lady. Piggott is due to arrive in Auckland today. A 8.8. C. film crew will follow his fortunes in each of the races he competes in on Saturday. . It Will be surprising if its cemeras do not capture him saluting the judge at least a couple of times, London Pride has won his last two starts and looks a near certainty in the Trans Tasman Handicap. Yir Tiz has as much class and brilliance as any of her two-year-old rivals in the $lO,OOO : Eclipse Stakes. Snowflake, too,. has form which entitles her to favouritism in the Koru Handicap.
