Television New Zealand
Sir,—l see by the full-page advertisement (*‘The Press,” ..February 16) that under the . new Television New Zealand f-system the viewer is to be given a better deal.!’For in-
stance, all children's programmes will be confined to One, while Two will show adult interest programmes during the day. This is fine for those viewers who have a choice, but what of those who do not receive Two with its adult interest programmes? Are they to be condemned to an unadulterated diet of children’s programmes during the day, and still be expected to pay the full licence fee? When will the best of arts and specialist documentaries- be shown in prime time on One, or are single channel viewers to be denied these also? I think the programme planners should go back to the drawing board and consider the whole of the licence-fee paying public, not just a proportion of it. — Yours, etc., VALERIE MACDONALD. Westport. i February 18, 1980. i
