Appeal for cyclists
Sir,—As a fuel-conserving cyclist, I was wondering if a motorist could write and explain to me what the big thrill is in trying to put the wind up as many of us as possible. Is there a point-;
system? Some may take this as a joke but I dare them to cycle to and from work for a week and perhaps try their luck on Avonside Drive in the five o’clock rush. If they survive and are not jibbering wrecks, may I suggest Kilmore Street at 7.45 a.m. That is a good street to test your skill at changing lanes, dodging cars and the few game motor-cyclists. Perhaps one day the motorist will realise the true value of the cyclist to him, at least in fuel for his car. So he should move over and give us a fair go.—Yours, etc., M. RILLSTONE.
