Women’s cricket
A sound batting display from Debie Hockley and Karen Hadlee enabled Lancaster Park to move into a good position against Sydneham in the senior women’s cricket competition on Saturday. Hockley made a.fine 72 and; Hadlee reached 63, enabling Park to declare at 201 for, four. At stumps, Sydenham was 75 for f °ur. The game between Riccarton and St Albans provided a strong contract. St Albans, batting first, collapsed to be dismissed for 74, with Sue Rattray and Liz Signal taking three cheap wickets each. Ricdarton batted solidly to be 134 for four at stumps with Rosemary Signal making 46 and Sheree Harris 38. , The Signal twins played for Central Districts in the Hallybur-ton-Johnstone national- tournament this season, and are poving to be a great asset for Riccarton.
