Big bulk carrier discharging at port
The Sunrise Glory, now ini port discharging 5000 tonnes of potash from Long Beach. California. is believed to be the | biggest bulk carrier—apart from! vessels which have loaded wood, chips—ever to use the port. I Formerly known as the Excel Trader, the Sqnrise Glory lias a cross weight of 20,382 tons, and a deadweight of 35.142 tonnes. She has an 11.27 m draught, ana is 182.3 m in length, with a beam of 26m. Another big bulk carrier to use the port is the Kolle D.. which visited Lyttelton several times last year carrying bulk phosphate and is due again on January 24. The Kolle D. has a gross; weight of 19,564 tons and a dead-; weight of 32,466 tonnes. She has : a draughts of 10.9 m and is 184 m I in length. . !
