Canty B loses on last delivery
The final delivery of the cricket match between Canterbury B and Central Districts B at Hawera yesterday proved the decider. Canterbury, after Central Districts declared at 100 for six in its second innings, was left 192 to win in about even time. In its first innings, Canterbury was dismissed for a paltrj 7 64. Canterbury made a positive effort to get the runs
and a fine innings by Ray Jones (61) kept the team on target. With one over remaining, Canterbury needed eight runs with three wickets remaining. But Warren Eddington was caught off the third ball, there was a run out off the fifth and Bernie Rule was judged leg before wicket off the last. The Central Districts bowler, Murray Jamieson, returned the excellent figures of eight for 29 in
