Play space for Harman courts
Lack of play space for children has been causing problems at Harman Courts, the Christchurch City Coun- : cil’s big housing renewal proiject in Addington. j Yesterday, the council’s [housing and property comimittee was told of difficulties 1 between tenants because of the number of children in th# housing block and the “nuisance” their play habits caused single-unit tenants. No courtyards or enclosed areas were attached to family flats: They had been planned. but later deleted for lack of loan money. Councillors said the Housing Corporation should be asked to approve more loan finance so the courtyards could be built. The rest of the site, which will stay vacant until another housing stage is built, should be levelled in the meantime, grassed and provided with play equipment which could be used by neighbourhood children, the committee said.
