N.Z. marathon win
NZPA Culver City,! California 1 New Zealand’s Athol Barton easily won the thirtysecond annual Western Hemisphere Marathon yesterday, crossing the line nearly two minutes ahead of Donald Ocana, of Mexico City.
! Barton, competing for the ! Whakatane track club, finished with a time of 2hrs 30min, 86s, well outside the course record of 2:15.57 and his Mexican teammate, Casimero Reves, was placed third at 2:31.57. Leslie Mahr, of San Diego, California, was the first woman finisher at 3:15.05.
