Bonus Bonds

Sir, — I would like to know how the New Zealand Post Office calculates the amount to be given out as prizes in the Bonus Bonds draw. Is it on a rate-of-interest on the amount invested in these bonds, and if so what percentage? Or are the prizes a set amount? — Yours, etc., SIDONIE YOUNG. November 20, 1979. [The Chief Postmaster, Mr D. Page, replies: “The Bonus Bonds prize fund is calculated at 6 per cent per annum on the amount of eligible funds. Of the total prize fund an average of 1/24 is used for weekly prizes, the remainder being paid as monthly prizes.”]
