Drive-in plans for Tyre Centre on new site
Mr Bob Harris is looking forward to this Christmas far more optimistically than the last. His business premises of North Canterbury Tyre and Hire Centre were wiped out just before last Christmas when a major fire occurred in Charles Street not far from the Hansen site. The business has been re-established and extended in Williams Street and further additions are planned for the front of the building to enable drive-in facilities to be offered.
The centre’s tyre department has been expanded and has a good range of exchange retreads. The firm has the only Kaiapoi agency for Ultra Seal, a puncture proofing service that takes 15 minutes for the average car. New to New Zealand, it was approved in the United States for the Apollo lunar vehicle. The centre is now handling new and used caravan sales, and has built up an extensive range of motor accessories. The premises are open six days a week and an emergency service, especially for the Automobile Association, is maintained on Sunday mornings.
