Cover for baths planned
Plans are underway for a roof over the Greymouth Memorial baths. A Rotary club representative (Mr A. N. Boustridge) outlined the plan before the Greymouth Borough Council ton Monday evening. The Council, after hearing the scheme in committee, approved it in principle and will apply to the Local Authorities’ Community Facilities Fund for a grant. Mr Boustridge said later that the Rotary Club would organise fund-raising and he estimated the total cost would be about $55,000. A roofed pool would be of great assistance in the area because the swimming club could then hold carnivals, regardless of the weather.
