“Objections” to book
Sir, — We like to think of our society as one w-here public debate is permitted, but some groups might not allow such debate if they had more power. After my book received some publicity I was telephoned by Radio Rhema and agreed to lend them a copy of “The Possibilities of Man” and to do an interview for them on Wednesday. October 17. The over-all reaction of most of those who have read my
book has been favourable, but a girl from the station read it and found things in it to which she “objected.” One would have thought that such controversial aspects would have formed a good basis for a discussion on radio. Instead, I received a letter telling me that because of these aspects “we are unable” (?) “to proceed with the review.” Some Christians should try to remember that excellent precept, “Judge not. that ye be not judged.” — Yours, etc., MARK D. SADLER. October 22, 1979. [Mr R. M. Cummings, general secretary of Radio Rhema, to whom this letter was referred, said that the station did not wish to make any comment.]
