A survey of New Zea-] landers leaving the country for a year or more will be carried out by the Planning I Council. ; The survey will be j mounted between October ■ 24 and 30 at Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch i international airports where i departing New Zealand resi- i dents will be asked to complete a questionnaire. The migration survey aims , to ascertain the type of , people leaving, why they are leaving, whether they in- 1 tend to return, and what'i
(factors will influence their return. The council will collect information about age. birth place, and nationality, and will ask questions about people’s job experience, education, skills, and housing. It is hoped that the results of the survey will add to the council’s understanding of the effects of migration on the employment market, vocational training, housing demand, and the planning of social services, according to the council’s chief planning ■ adviser (Ms P. Fischer).
