Theft for children

PA Wellington John Daniel Walker’s family was reduced to living on potatoes, and so he stole to feed them, the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington heard. Walker, aged 26, unemployed, admitted two charges of burglary. Mr D. J. Sullivan, S.M., convicted him and ordered him to come up for sentence in six months if called upon. Prosecuting. The defendant had two children, one aged 10 months, counsel said. Only food for the child'en was taken in the burglaries.
