Power use down
Peak power usage in the Central Canterbury Electric Power Board’s area for the month of June was much lower than for the same month last year. Just under 60,000 kW was the highest half-hour peak demand in the board’s area in June compared with a maximum demand last year of around 66,000 kW, the board was told this week.
This year’s mild winter was the main reason for the drop in demand, said the board’s general manager (Mr S. E. Slatter).
