Big theft of stamps
Stamp collectors should beware of “bargain” stamps, according to the Christchurch C. 1.8.. after a collection valued at $lO,OOO was stolen from a house in England Street, Linwood, on Thursday evening. The stamp collection was in two books. A. rifle, a stereo, a television set, and a slide projector, with a combined value of about $l5OO, were also taken. The stamps taken in the burglary included mint New Zealand stamps dating from 1862, and a British set of Concorde aircraft stamps.
