S2S BILATERAL AID PROGRAMME AGRICULTURAL PLANNING ADVISER : TONGA : APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED under the New Zealand bilateral aid programme for the position of Agricultural Planning Adviser to the Tonga government. The appointee will head the Planning Unit of the Tonga Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries and will be directly responsible to the Director of Agriculture. His duties will include advising the Director of Agriculture on policy implementation of the agricultural programme: coordination of the various aspects of agricultural development in Tonga such as coconut replanting banana rehabilitation, forestry, livestock and fisheries: evaluation of current projects within the agricultural sector and identification and appraisal of new projects. Applicants should have qualifications and experience in agricultural economics, statistics and management. Experience in tropical agriculture in a developing country is preferable. Horticultural experience is an added advantage. The appointment is for a period of two years The successful applicant will be provided with a house and return travel and transfer expenses for his family. Salary and allowances are negotiable between the successful applicant and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A medical clearance is a prerequisite to appointment.
