New Chief of Air Staff
PA Wellington Air Commodore D. E. Jamieson has been named as the new Chief o'f Air Staff of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. He will take up the appointment on October 16, assuming the rank of air vice-marshal. Air Commodore Jamieson, who will succeed Air ViceMarshal C. L. Siegert, will be the first post-World War II entrant to reach Chief of Staff level in any of the services in New Zealand. Air Commodore Jamieson is the son of the Chief Judge of the Arbitration Court, Judge R. D. Jamieson. His appointment as Chief of Air Staff is for three years. Educated at New Plymouth Boys’ High School, Air Commodore Jamieson joined the R.N.Z.A.F. in 1949 and trained as a pilot at Wigram. He is now serving as Deputy Chief of Defence Staff in the Ministry of Defence in Wellington. Air Commodore Jamieson became an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (0.8. E. in 1967 and was appointed an honorary aide-de-camp to the Governor-Gen-eral in 1968.
