320 entered for sale

A total of 320 entries have been received by Wrightson Bloodstock for the 1980 national sale of selected standardbred yearlings tc be held in Christchurch in February. “The total is down on the entry for last year, when the sales were run in conjunction with the Inter-Do-minion carnival, but the quality is extremely high,’’

said Mr Paul Davies, the standardbred manager of the

company. “Many prospective vendors with unfashionably bred lots did not waste time entering them as they knew they had no chance of meeting the standard of the selection panel. This, too, has resulted in a decline in the total,” he added.

The company has received 95 entries for the Ashburton sale to be held next month and 90 for the Great Northern sale of selected yearlings.
