Arapahos, prominent on both Caulfield and Melbourne Cup lists, cannot make the trip because his(owner, Robert Sangster, was! unable to arrange quan-l (rantine in time to prepare (him for the cups. 1 i The trainer, Bart Cum-T imings, who considered the Horse “an ideal type for the Melbourne Cup,” was told ’ the’ news on Tuesday when ’ he contacted Mr Sangster. i Regulations would have ‘ required Arapahos to spend 1 30 days in quarantine in 1 Britain and 14 days on his ' arrival in Australia. Ara- 1 pahos, with five .wins and 1 four placings from 15 starts, ! was given 57kg in the 1 $156,000 Caulfield Cup and < 56kg in the Melbourne Cup. ■ Mr Sangster’s other overseas contender, Valley Forge, is weighted 57,5 for both cups. Valley Forge will have a barrier trial in Sydney on Friday week and is likely to run in 1000 m Premier Stakes : eight days later. j
