CSR outlook brighter
NZPA Sydney The chairman of CSR, Ltd (Sir James Vernon) is confident of improved performances from a number of the group’s activities during the current year.
Addressing shareholders at the annual meeting he said that the recent increase in the price of domestic refined sugar would benefit the company. Cattle, Wool, and Grain prices remained firm, and the building materials division was expected to show a modest improvement. Mt Newman’s performance would be helped by the 8 per cent price increase on its long-term contracts with Japanese steel mills.
“In almost all our activities we have scope for significant expansion of output from existing capital investment,” he said.
