North Auckland wins in mud

PA Dunedin North Auckland took command over the final 20 minutes to beat Otago 16-7 in a national championship rugby gan.e at Carisbrook yesterday. Mud slowed down the North Auckland forwards in the first part of the second spell, but over the final stages the side scored seven points. North Auckland dominated the lineouts in the first spell and led the count 21-8 at

half lime. But it did not make good use of the ball. Otago came back with spirit in the second spell but North Auckland still dominated. North Auckland 16 (Tuck Waaka, Wayne Dunning tries, Mike Gunson conversion. Eddie Dunn two dropped goals); Otago 7 (Steve Brocklebank try, David Halligan penalty goal). Referee: Mr J.
