Avon wins Aust, rules
Avon played Its best football of tlie season to outkick the competition leader, Ashburton, by io goals to four in an Australian Rules match during the week-end.
Both teams played close defensive football but the allround skills of the Christchurch side allowed It to finally win by a 29-point margin. Avon's Alby Hill was in grand form, getting on top of the Ashburton star, Dennis O’Sullivan, to score five goals. The other goals for Avon were kicked by Terry Daniels and P. Morgan ftwo eachi and G. Willis.
The Ashburton goals were scored by T. Kenny (two), P. McGoldrick and T. Luxton.
Named as the best players were Daniels, Hill and B. Williams (Avon) and P. Williams, Kenny and Luxton (Ashburton).
