Short N.Z. visit for Ambassador
PA - Wellington The United States Ambas-sador-designate to New Zealand, Mrs Anne Martindell, has had her first look at her new office in Wellington. Mrs Martindell attended the A.N.Z.U.S. council meeting in Canberra last Wednesday and Thursday and was visiting Wellington on her way back to the United States. On Friday she met her future staff at the Embassy in Thorndon and visited the Ambassador’s residence in Lower Hutt, where she will live for the next four years. She gave no news interview nor made any official call. No date has been fixed for her return to Wellington to present her credentials and formally assume her post but it is believed likely to be in mid or late August. Mrs Martindell’s husband, Mr Jackson Martindell, a retired businessman, lives in Florida and will not accompany his wife to New Zealand.
