Drug force increased
PA y* Wellington The police will get 54 more staff to help in their fight against drugs and crime, the Minister of
Police (Mr Gill) announced yesterday. The increase in staff since November, 1975, was now 545, he said. Last year, an extra 38 staff were authorised for
drug-enforcement duties. “However, while there are specialist drug squad staff, they do not constitute the total effort in anti-drug work,” said Mr Gill. “I must emphasise that all police are involved in drug detection,” he said.
