Big scores in juniors
High scoring was the order of the day when first round games in the junior national soccer cup were played in Christchurch yesterday. A total of 34 goals were scored in the five games, with Shamrock leading the way with a 12-0 win over Papanui W.M.C. Rangers beat Burndale United, 8-0, while Cashmere-Wanderers beat Woolston W.M.C., 5-0. Technical beat New Brighton, 4-0, and in the closest match of the round Christchurch United needed extra time to beat Western, 3-2. The next round of matches will be on May 27 when Shamrock will meet Rangers, Cashmere will play Technical while United will play either Dunedin City or Mosgiel in Dunedin.
