F.O.L. policy

Sir, — Your correspondent Mrs A. Baxter (May 10) has expressed very sensible views regarding F.O.L. policy. For too many years the public has become accustomed to Sir Thomas Skinner pointing his finger and condemning every range of

employer because of some industrial problem so often resulting in strikes for the most trivial of reasons. Strike action may have been acceptable years ago, but in this age of advanced legislation the great majority of the public are dismayed by the continuing use of this weapon and the encouragement given by the F.O.L. to use this means of protest. The British working man has seen the folly of his support for persistent strike action and the failure of nationalised industry. Mr Rowling should make it clear to his conference that the Labour Party will never become the Government so long as the F.O.L. continues its present policy. The British Labour Government has paid the price of Left-wing politics. — Yours, etc., C. R. GRANT. May 10, 1979.
