Walkways

Sir, — Mr J. T. Kneebone’s remarks at the seminar on New Zealand walkway on the “anti-social” versus the “wealthy” with regard to our public walkways, are exceptional. He describes the “anti-social” clearly as those with parents too involved with T.A.8., hotel life, and bingo to be interested in their children. They have few possessions and no regard for those of other people. The “wealthy” and “affluent” types are people careful of their money and possessions and make up the large majority of New Zealanders. As the “anti-social” are on the increase more support than ever should be given the administrators of our national parks and reserves to preserve them for the majority otherwise there would soon be nothing left to preserve. The “antisocial” is a temporary state; these folk dd in time change and our amenities are preserved for them also. — Yours, etc, R. DIXON. May 11, 1979.
