Rugby champ. fails
PA Masterton The national first division rugby champion. Wellington, was held to a humiliating 16-16 draw by the lowly rated WalrarapaBush in Masterton yesterday. Wellington led, 16-3, at halftime but failed to score in a lack-lustre second half performance against an inspired Waira-rapa-Busb. The home side turned in ona of its best performances in years.
The forward pack was outstanding with the forme: Hawke’s Bay lock, Mike McCool, proving a very valuable asset fol his new province. The full-back Neil Kjestrup, was a mode! oi dependability as a last line oj defence and scored all hil aide’s points. Scorers:— Wairarapa-Bush 16 (Kjestrup s try and 4 penalty goals), Welling ton 16 (Stu Wilson 2 tries, Brise CederwaU 2 penalties and a con version.
