The Awapuni trainer. Garth Ivil, has likely winning prospects for the opening day of the Nelson meeting today.

A year ago he saddled Credit Note and Pear! Hagen to win a T.A.B. double and Kirstie and Highland Flight to quinella the Newman’s Travel Stakes.

Today he will put Highland Flight and Pearl Hagen into the Caltex Gold’Cup the first leg of the T.A.B. double, and his hopeful for

the second leg will be the five-year-old Pan Jet. Atter a fourth over 2000 m at Trenthain on March 13, Highland Flight will come in for solid backing over the same distance today. She will be ridden bv the former [South Islander, David Walsh. Other form runners for the Ivil stable today will be All Gold (Fleming Handicap). Save (Evening Mail -Novice No. 3), and Two Can Pay and See Legs (Gordon s Handicap). Leo Robinson, from Matangi, has become another

regular and welcome arrival from the North island for autumn meetings in the last few years. The Robinson stable could have nine runners at Richmond today and if the pattern of recent years is con(inued the southern trek will be continued to take in Riverton at Easter Trumpet Call, a winner lor the stable at Riverton las' Easier and later th« most successful sprinter at Westport, will resume after a ->pell in the second leg of today’s T.A.B. double.
