New motor sailer

A new 6.5 motor-sailer capable of sleeping six persons is being developed by a Christchurch boat builder, Cooke Bros, Ltd. The vessel has full headroom in the main saloon. It is a bilge keeler, with added ballast to give it good stability. The craft has internal steering and a covered wheelhouse. There is provision for the installation of a tiller arm. The company says that safety features are high on its list of priorities for the vessel. Standard features include built-in buoyancy, high top sides, and selfdraining cockpit, hatches and anchor well. Cooke Bros is also developing a larger 8m motor-sailer. The company says that the craft are ideal for economical family boating, especially for week-end holiday trips round Banks Peninsula and to the Marlborough Sounds.
