Stereo set stolen

Burglars stole a stereo system valued at $lOOO, cigarettes, and $220 in cash when they broke into the Shirley Football club’s rooms on Thursday night. They kicked in the front glass door and forced open two interior doors. Two taverns were broken into the previous night. Thieves gained entry through a smashed window at the Avonhead Tavern and stole liquor and cigarettes valued at $562. Mail was stolen from the Prebbleton Tavern and a window was smashed but there was no sign of entry, according to Detective Sergeant R. Woolhouse, of the Hornby police.
