Steam-powered flight
Sir, — Please book me on Air Ponga Ponga’s first available flight from Ashburton to Easter Island as advertised by your travel editor this morning. If I supplied a hopper full of blackmarket Mount Somers coal would the airline stretch a point and take me to the Shetland Islands? They have good-grade coal there (and
pit ponies) for the return flight to Ashburton. Perhaps a charter flight for Ashburtonians would also be a paying proposition. I await delivery of my slightly polluted tickets. — Yours, etc., NESSIE VIAL. Ashburton. February 1, 1979.
