Israeli budget
The Israeli Cabinet has approved a $l6 billion budget after three weeks of debate over the breakdown of the budget and the sum itself. The budget is about 5 per cent higher in real terms than the present one, but most civilian sectors will suffer slight cuts to help pay for the army’s withdrawal from the Sinai Peninsula into the Negev Desert — a cost of a still-unsigned peace treaty with Egypt. — Tel Aviv,
