Leader in cement dead
PA Wellington A Dunedin builder who founded Cement Products at Lower Hutt, Mr R. Love, has died in Auckland. He was 89. Mr Love was born in Port Chalmers. After serving in France and Germany during World War I, he founded the Love Construction Company in Dunedin with two brothers. In 1925, he formed a company, Fletcher and Love, with the late Sir James Fletcher, to build the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition at Dunedin. The two also built the Wellington Cen- ; tennial Exhibition on the i site of Wellington’s pre-
sent airport at Rongolai in 1939. Mr Love stayed in Wellington and founded Cement Products, Ltd, in 1942. he remained chairman of the board of directors until 1974, when he moved to Auckland. The company has since merged with Vibrapac, of which his only son, Mr E. Love, is sales manager. Mr Love had long associations with the Wellington Master Builders’ Association both as vice-presi-dent and president. In 1949 he became president of the New Zealand Master Builders’ Federation. For 15 years he served on the board of governors of Queen Margaret Coi-
lege, Thorndon, most of that time as its chairman. He is survived by his wife, a son, and two daughters.
