Big hotel planned
PA Wellington Lion Breweries is planning to build a massive luxury hotel in Lambton Quay, Wellington. A spokesman for Lion Breweries, Mr D. Fitzgerald, said that preliminary talks had already begun on the design, type of operation planned, and building of the new hotel. Building the hotel would start soon. It would contain extensive banqueting facilities, restaurants, public bars and shops, he said. The multi-storey hotel will probably be built on the site of rhe former Gresham Hotel, opposite the DIC. It will have at least 200 bedrooms.
