Wool sale average

The average price of greasy wool sold at the Timaru wool sale on December 6 was 210.71 c per kilogram. This was almost 7c or just under 6 per cent back on the average for the October sale in the same centre, but was almost 7c up on the Christchurch sale five days earlier and more than 13c or 6.6 per cent better than at the Timaru sale in December last year.

The returns for the latest sale included a small amount of Government supplementation — $3662.12. A total of 24,116 bales containing, 3,440,242 kg of greasy wool sold at auction for $7,249,121.67. The average price per bale was $300.59. For 13,936 kg of scoured wool also sold at the sale, the average price was 267.57 c per kg and $321.45 per bale.
