Beach risk
Strong, low-tide rips have been reported at Taylors Mistake and Waimain Beach.
The Canterbury Surf Life saving Association has asked swimmers to be careful when bathing at these beaches.
Rain kept swimmers away from the beaches yesterday, but the surf was good for board riding. Surf at most beaches reached about Im The average water tempera ture was 17deg.
