Napier wool firm
PA Napier Second-shear wool and oddments were slightly dearer but fleece-wool prices were unchanged on the second day of the Napier wool sale yesterday, according to the official report.
The second day of the (sale, the first having been I held on Monday, saw 18,369 bales offered to a full bench ! of buyers. The offering was made up of full-length ewe wool, early-shorn and second- ! shear, a small quantity of lambs’ wool, and the usual | selection of oddments.
The Hawke’s Bay, Poverty Bay, East Coast, Rotorua, ! Taupo, and Taihape areas I supplied the bulk of the offering. Strong competition for the
smaller quantity of hogget wool on offer was received from Chinese and Eastern European interests. Local mills supported the good selection of longer fleece wool, with good competition from the Continent and Eastern Europe. The adjusted weighted average sale price (awasp) was 205.84 c a kilogram. As the trigger price of 250 c a kilogram was not exceeded, no retention levy will apply. The official prices were: c c
