Protection for snapper

PA Wellington Snapper caught in Golden and TaSman Bays during the summer schooling season will be placed under a quota system, says the Minister of Fisheries (Mr Maclntyre). The decision was made in response to calls from

local fishermen who feared that excessive fishing. might result in exploitation of snapper, the Minister said. Mr Maclntyre said the quota would be set at 600 tonnes for the period December 19, 1978, to February 28, 1979.
