No Sunday morning swimming
Earlier Sunday opening tours for the Jellie Park' iwimming pool were declined: last evening by the Waimairi' County works, reserves and traffic committee. The council, after receiv-! fog requests from pool users; for earlier Sunday hours, had; referred the matter to the committee, with the power to| act. At present, the pool is open | from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily; except Sunday, when the hours are restricted to 12.30; p.m, to 6.30 p.m. Churches ini the Jellie Park area objected! to extended hours on the basis of noise and parking, j The only local facility open to Sunday-morning swimmers, apart from the sea and rivers and streams, is the. pool at Queen Elizabeth II! Park which opens at 10 a.m.l Cr M. E. Murray advocated an 11 a.m. Sunday opening; of the pool but was overruled | by other councillors.
