Yachtsmen named
Peter Milliken and Brent Cowan will represent Canterbury in the national Javelin class yachting series for the Sanders Cup at Lyttelton in February. They had gained a narrow points advantage over John Fisher and Derek Brandt at the end of the six provincial trials sailed over the last two week-ends, but the result could not be confirmed until the Canterbury Yachting Association’s protest committee convened last evening.
Fisher and Brandt had protested about the positioning of the official boat at the finishing line. The protest was dismissed after an extensive consideration of the evidence and rule interpretations.
